There is evidence of vine-growing in Burgundy since the second century AD, (although some commentators have speculated that the Celts may have been growing vines in the region before the Romans conquered Gaul in 51 BC).

French Burgundy wine (or Vin de Bourgogne in French) comes from the Burgundy wine region in eastern France. Burgundy is home to some of the most expensive wines in the world.
There are some excellent Bordeaux white wines, especially the sweet white Bordeaux wines from the Sauternes wine region such as Chateau d'Yquem. There are also some notable dry white Bordeaux wines.
